The book of Samuel gives us these fascinating, multi-dimensional characters, and even though they make mistakes, and some are moving toward tragedy, the authors refuse to write them as these flat characters who are either heroes or villains. They portray them as full people taking part in the drama of salvation and worthy of our attention.
