The Board of Community Concern (BCC) is involved in those areas that involve outreach to the communities surrounding the church as well as in areas of justice that reach beyond them. They are given the task to identify and facilitate ways in which the church as a whole and as individuals can help those in need both near and far away.
The North Park Friendship Center (NPFC) and the Peterson Elementary School Tutoring Program are two areas in which the BCC is directly involved.
There are three areas in which the BCC is concentrating for 2010-2011:
- Food Justice: This involves but is not limited to the North Park Church Community Garden, issues of Fair Trade, and serving as the liaison between the church and the NPFC.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with local civic organizations such as the Hollywood North Park Community Association, the North River Commission, and the Albany Park Neighborhood Council.
- Social Justice: This involves but is not limited to health care reform, immigration reform, fair housing, and education funding.
